Ontario students pursuing post-secondary education in any of several fields are invited to apply for the Ontario Grain Farmers Legacy Scholarship.
Up to 10 scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded each year, with up to five awarded to students majoring in fields other than agriculture. The application deadline is July 21, 2024.
Successful scholars will be enrolled in any field of study that has the potential to benefit Ontario’s grain sector or agri-food industries and support the development of future leaders in these fields.
Launched for the first time in 2022, the Legacy Scholarships have been awarded to 19 students attending schools across the country in a variety of programs, including aerospace engineering, science, marketing, economics and agriculture.
Scholarship applicants must submit a CV and a 500-1,000 word essay explaining what sparked their interest in their field of study, how their field of study and career goals will benefit the future of Ontario’s grain sector or agri-food industry, and why the Ontario Grain Farmers Association should be a partner in their academic journey.
“Enabling students to pursue areas of study that help grow and enhance the agriculture and agri-food industry is a key priority for the Grain Farmers of Ontario. We are very pleased with the Legacy Scholarship recipients to date and encourage students to apply and further diversify and increase their interest in agriculture and the broader agricultural industry,” said Jeff Harrison, president of the Grain Farmers of Ontario.
To be considered, the following rules apply:
- Be a permanent resident of Ontario
- Recipients are eligible to receive the scholarship only once in their lifetime.
