Norman’s Cay, an ultra-luxury resort on the Exuma island chain in the Bahamas, has appointed Maain Shahid as its new Front Office Manager.
A rising star among young hoteliers in the Maldives, Maain brings with him vast experience and an illustrious track record in the hospitality industry. Prior to relocating to the Caribbean, Maain served as Front Office Manager at the trendsetting Patina Maldives in the Fari Islands. He joined the team as Assistant Manager during the pre-opening phase and quickly earned the trust and respect of the team and management, progressing to a Managerial role.
Prior to his success at Patina Maldives, Maain served as Duty Manager at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi during its pre-opening and first year of operation. A graduate of Hilton’s Management Development Programme, Maain has also held key front office roles at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok. His hospitality career began with internships at prestigious hotels such as One&Only Reethi Rah and The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
His primary educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts with double major in Hospitality and Tourism Management from James Cook University, Australia (Singapore Campus) and a Master of International Business in Hotel, Resort & Spa Management from the Swiss School of Hotel Management, Leysin, Switzerland.
Maain attributes his success in the industry to his pure passion for culture, people and creating memorable experiences. His vision is to inspire the next generation of young Maldivian hoteliers by nurturing their interest and passion and helping them build successful careers in the industry.

Located in northern Exumas, Bahamas, Norman’s Cay is a beautiful island with a new marina with 37 mooring slips for boats up to 210 feet in length, with plans for expansion. The island has a unique history as a base for the Medellin Cartel in the 1980s. Today, visitors can enjoy a tranquil stay in exclusive villas, bungalows, cabanas and MacDuff Cottages, while enjoying dining at the Yacht Club, Beach Club and MacDuff. The marina and private airport serve as the official point of entry into the Bahamas, with direct access by both boat and private jet.
