Two things are true when it comes to agriculture. Where there are cows, there is fertilizer; where there are crops, there is a need for nutrients. Producers have found many ways to handle these two truths separately, but research shows that some things are actually better when done together.
Feedlot operators have been applying fertilizer to fields for quite some time to get a way to clean the pens and the beneficial nutrients they provide. But for some time now, more feedlots and producers of cattle that feed in bedding over the winter have turned to composting the results of long winters and multiple pens.
