of State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) The central bank recently warned the public about a series of phishing scams being carried out by fraudsters posing as the central bank.
In the emails, scammers impersonate SBV and try to trick individuals into clicking on a phishing link by falsely claiming to update their biometric details for banking purposes.
These fraudulent emails often cite SBV Decision No. 2345/QD-NHNN to appear legitimate and urge recipients to update their information by August 30, 2024.
To further increase credibility, they included a fake email address – “no-reply@sbvgov.site” – and attached the full text of the decision.
The SBV confirmed that these emails were fraudulent and aimed at stealing personal information.
By clicking on the link, the recipient could unknowingly download and install malware or spyware that could gain control of their personal devices or bank accounts.
Additionally, stolen personal information and data may be used for illegal activities.
The SBV reminds the public that official information is only disseminated through the e-portal. Vietnam We will not directly request customers to update their biometric data via email.
The central bank urged citizens not to click on suspicious links received via chat, SMS or email and not to provide personal information to unverified sources.
