of Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced that Gan Kim Yong, Minister of Trade and Industry, will become the new Chairman of the MAS Board of Directors for a term from May 15, 2024 to May 31, 2026.
Mr Gan will serve as vice-chairman of MAS from 8 July 2023, succeeding Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lawrence Wong.
Mr. Wong has been serving as Chairman since July 8, 2023, and will step down as Chairman and Director on May 15, 2024.
Mr. Wong’s tenure at MAS includes a period as Vice Chairman from June 1, 2021 to July 7, 2023, and as a Director from June 10, 2011 to August 29, 2016. Includes a period of
