The Tourism Ministry announced on Thursday that it would invite proposals to develop tourism facilities on several uninhabited islands and plots of lagoon.
The ministry has published a list of available sites, along with their area (in hectares) and acquisition costs. Interested parties can find more details and an application form on the ministry’s website.
Below is a list of islands, their acquisition costs and sizes.
- Vaikaramuraidu – 15 hectares, $1.9 million
- Sh. Kudalhaimendu – 13.11 hectares, $2 million
- R. Dick Ledoux – 4.83 hectares $2.6 million
- Lh. Dhiffushi (with L. Maidu) – 15.17+20.99 hectares, $18.6 million
- Lh. Vihafarfinolhu – 0.28 ha; $640,000
- Male Atoll Lagoon – 712 hectares, $23.5 million
- Malé Atoll Lagoon – 46 hectares, $10.9 million
- AA. Alikoira – 1.47 hectares, $1.3 million
- Galilee Island (including another island in the atoll) – 6.96 hectares vs. 0.20 hectares, $2 million
- Th. Rutibilla – 8.41 hectares, $2.4 million
- Kanimeedhoo – 10 hectares, $2.8 million
- L. Casidou – 3.11 hectares $466,500
- L. Bodhumnafushi – 3.14 hectares, $471,000
- L. Hanfusi – 2.81 hectares; $421,500
- GA. Beilmadu – 3.08 hectares; $385,000
- Ah. Kalhehutta – 7.61 hectares $951,250
