Lily Beach Resort & Spa has announced the impressive awards won by the hotel’s in-house chef, Nuwan Tharanga Eakanayake, at the recently concluded Hotel Asia 2024 Exhibition & International Culinary Competition. The 18th edition of the exhibition was held in Malé in May and was organised by the Darubargahe Exhibition Hall, Usfasgandu and Maldives National University (MNU).
Chef Nuwan and the Lily team participated in six competitions and won the top gold medal for hot cooking lamb, and five bronze medals in the remaining competitions. Lily Beach has always maintained its position as a leader in the culinary aspect of the industry, especially due to the common consensus in the market that Lily Beach’s food is delicious. This year’s prestigious judging panel included 24 judges from over 15 countries, including Project Director Alan Palmer, a chef with over 50 years’ experience and an honorary life member of WACS.
