New Holland is touting its recent joint venture with Raven Industries as an opportunity for grain producers to access grain cart automation that can reduce stress on cart operators and also reduce grain runoff.
Earlier this year, New Holland announced a joint venture with Raven Industries to make Raven Cart Automation available on its combines in 2024.
Raven Cart Automation is a local wireless control unit link between a combine and up to six grain carts, giving the combine operator 100% control of the combine and grain cart. In this report from Commodity Classic in Houston, Texas, New Holland Marketing Manager Nick Mortensen says: – Get level operators in minutes. ”
Raven Cart Automation synchronizes the movement of the combine with the grain cart and acts as a driver-assistance technology, allowing the combine operator to direct the position and speed of the grain cart during the cart-filling process. When the grain cart driver approaches within 200 feet of the combine, the system activates and synchronizes the combine’s auger with his tractor cart. The combine operator controls the position, speed, and direction of the grain cart bin.
Mortenson said field tests show the technology can reduce cart operator stress by 22 percent and cart spills by 33 percent.
Compatibility and connectivity are also important aspects of technology. Mortenson said Raven Cart Automation sells most New Holland tractors with CVT/PST transmissions from the 2020 model year onwards, as well as his seven CR combines from the 2015 model year onwards (CR6.80, CR6.90, CR7. 80, CR8). 90, CR9.90, CR10.90, CR11.
