There comes a time on every farm when grandpa’s store is no longer useful. Nothing could fit in the doorway, it was dark and cold and just too small. Vandervalk Farms has known for years that it was time to build a new, larger store, but it took some time to decide on the size and all aspects of the store.
Now, with the store near Fort Macleod, Alberta, nearing completion, Stephen Vandervalk agreed it was time to put on a show. Real Ag Shop Around the new excavation site.
Inside the store, it’s immediately apparent how much the Vandervalk family loves a good auction and buying at auction. And everything from the very useful to the very quirky is housed in the new 100-foot-by-140-foot store. There is a main shop with built-in offices, fully equipped meeting and staff areas, a parts room, a washroom, and a mezzanine floor larger than the old shop, which is still on site.
The store has underfloor heating, a hydraulic press that can be used on site, and a door added to facilitate drive-through of large equipment, a door so large in fact that it eventually accommodates 50 I purchased a foot header and it was just big enough. . Most tire changes and repairs can be done in-store, and our parts and tools section has duplicates of nearly every part so you don’t run out when it matters most.
Vandervalk said being in such a dry, windy region means there is a risk of grass fires, so the farm has its own fire suppression equipment and water source in case a fire breaks out. It states that there is. Check out the complete tour in this video, including some very cool auction purchases.
