What’s unique about rubber cow mats? For German manufacturer Huber Technik, it comes down to the fact that their rubber never touches the road.
In this report from the 2024 Canadian Dairy XPO in Stratford, Ontario, company owner Veronica Kamm says Hoover Technique’s stall mattresses are made exclusively from new tire compound. . She said, “Our rubber was never a tire. It’s a new rubber compound that we got from a tire factory in Western Europe.”
Kam said tires that don’t meet specifications are shipped to a manufacturing site in Erding, Germany, where new tire compounds are used to create more durable cattle mats. “When combined with the underlying fabric, it becomes a very durable and long-lasting material.”
Huber Technik was founded in the 1920s and visited CDX for the first time in 2024. Kamm is now in his fourth generation of the family to lead the business and has been producing and selling rubber and metal products around the world for nearly his century. . She said North America is a very important market for the company, which currently has two Canadian distributors: Agricre in Quebec and Agric Comfort in Ontario.
Kam says the Hoover mattress provides an ideal comfortable surface for dairy cows, relaxing their joints, promoting health and overall productivity. The company also takes a unique approach to distribution and installation by offering products in rolls rather than individual single mats. “We do everything in rolls up to 100 meters long, which makes installation very easy.” (See report below.)
