April is just around the corner and that means thousands of dairy farmers will soon be heading to Stratford, Ontario to participate in the Canadian Dairy XPO. This year, the program celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The annual dairy industry showcase will be held at the Stratford Rotary Complex on April 3rd and 4th. In 2023, approximately 17,000 people visited the show. This is an attendance record, and CDX founder and operator Jordan Underhill hopes to surpass it when the show opens its doors next month. “The Canadian Dairy Expo truly is a national showcase for a great industry, and we are proud of that,” he says.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, CDX is planning new programs to address the training needs of dairy producers. This includes the launch of the Canadian Dairy Business Summit, billed as his one-day CEO training for dairy producers. “If we continue with these dairies, producers don’t have to be briefed on things like heifer development and ruminant nutrition. Producers are experts in the field of animal science,” says Underhill. . “But many of them have no business training.”
The summit will be held on April 2nd at the Tom Patterson Theater in Stratford and will feature experts from Canada, the United States and Europe sharing their insights on building dynamic teams and retaining great players. Artificial intelligence and its impact on future agriculture. Negotiation and decision-making strategies. and Canadian contract law. Approximately 200 dairy manufacturers are expected to participate.

The annual trade fair attracts 350 exhibitors from 35 countries. Highlights include the German Pavilion, featuring the latest technology and innovations from Germany; Robotics In Motion, which includes live demonstrations of the latest robotics technologies focused on milking, feeding and nutrition management; and Genetics In Motion, featuring dairy daughters sired by the industry’s top AI sires.
Calves For A Cause will also be held this year. In 2023, when the final hammer fell, the sale had record results, with total sales reaching his $285,000, an increase of 58%. $65,000 of the proceeds were donated to London Children’s Hospital. He also received a $6,500 donation to Stratford General Hospital. It will be held at the Cow Coliseum on April 3 at 6 p.m., and 40 live cows will be sold. The sale will be streamed live on Direct Livestock Marketing Systems (DLMS) and YouTube.
Calves For A Cause follows the annual CheeseFest event. Scheduled for 4 p.m., it will feature entertainment from Canadian Idol finalist Jaydee Bixby.
