Precision Planting hopes to create a new product category with its CornerStone planting system.
“CornerStone has everything but the planter bar,” says Caleb Schleder, director of technical services and support for Precision Planting. Speaking at the Commodity Classic in Houston, Texas, earlier this month, he explained how the company set out to build a planting system that would allow growers to choose which Precision Planting technologies they wanted integrated into their CornerStone system and then design the unit in the factory.Check out the video below:
Farmers can then determine the technology they need to overcome challenges and take advantage of opportunities on their farm, adds Schrader. “We built the Cornerstone planting system with the farmer in mind, optimizing performance, maintenance and wear while making upgrading existing planters easy and certainly more affordable than buying new.”
The planting system comes standard with load cells and electronics, making the product easy to expand – special adapter plates are no longer required.
Key features available to growers include a rear tilt hopper system, trailing gauge wheel design, top adjustable closure alignment cam nut system, heavy-duty 15-inch opening disc with optimized spindle angle and wear indicator, robust seed tube guard design and shank interface, and 14 inches of vertical travel with built-in travel stop feature.
“We are currently beta testing the Cornerstone Planting System, and following successful field trials this spring, we expect it to be commercially available to dealers and farmers in 2025,” Schroeder noted.
