Canaleaf has partnered with Maldives’ national airline Maldivian and renowned Maldivian environmental activist Saaz Syed to organise a series of exciting and impactful events from June 1 to June 8. World Coral Reef Day – June 1st: Coral Transplant
To kick off the week, the resort will be hosting a coral transplant event at Baa Kuda Beach on June 1. The initiative aims to protect and restore precious coral reefs, a vital ecosystem that is under threat from climate change and human activities.
World Environment Day – June 5: 100 for the Environment! Plant a Tree
On this day, guests will have the opportunity to take part in a reforestation initiative by planting 100 fruit and vegetable trees across Canaleaf. By planting trees, they will not only help mitigate climate change, but also create habitat for local wildlife and contribute to sustainability.
World Oceans Day – June 7: Awareness Programme and Noodle Hunt
Canareef will be hosting an enlightening awareness programme for guests, staff and local school children. The event will be led by Shaziah ‘Shaz’ Saeed, a renowned expert on environment and marine life, at Meera Conference Hall and Meera Beach. Saaz’s vast experience and passion for marine conservation will inspire guests, staff and students to take action to protect our oceans. The programme will also include a nurdle hunt at Meera Beach to highlight the urgent need to combat plastic pollution in our oceans.
Saazu is a multi-faceted professional who is a dive instructor, surf coach, athlete, TEDx speaker, and more. Her dedication to conservation and ocean protection has earned her numerous accolades, including awards for her contributions to the dive and tourism industries.
Global Wellness Day – June 8: Global Wellness Day 2K Run & Walk
