Located in the heart of Liverpool Street, just steps from Liverpool Station, Los Mochis offers a fantastic dining experience. Newly opened in May, the top-floor restaurant boasts a secluded terrace with stunning views of the capital, perfect for enjoying cocktails in the sun. The restaurant offers a private dining room, perfect for meetings or special occasions, as well as a chef’s private dining room with live cooking. There is also a sit-down sushi bar where you can order from the menu, listen to the chef’s recommendations or request your favourite sushi.
The venue is elegantly decorated, with unique booth seating framing stunning views, marble tables and wooden floors. A central bar with beautiful drinks is a real eye-catcher. The atmosphere is relaxed with mellow music, dark colours and plenty of natural light with panoramic views of London. The wide selection of cocktails, drinks and food makes this the perfect spot for any occasion.
Los Mochis offers a unique fusion of Mexican and Japanese cuisine. We opted for the 10-course tasting menu that related to and paid tribute to each culture. We started our journey with freshly made guacamole and nachos. The second dish was teriyaki duck with hoisin sauce served over crispy rice, adding an extra crunchy texture. This was followed by salmon with wasabi, drizzled in soy sauce and a gentle flavour of coriander cress. We then enjoyed a sea bass ceviche with shiso truffle soy sauce. The sea bass was tender and juicy, served with a lemon and lime sauce and topped with mint cress. The tender grilled black cod skewers drizzled in citrusy plum miso and topped with pickled red onion were a personal highlight.
The fifth course, Cucumber and Avocado Roll, featured rice smothered in toasted sesame seeds, drizzled in cucumber, smothered in jalapeño salsa verde and topped with avocado and cucumber chunks. This was followed by the Spicy Hiramasa Roll, a perfectly rolled yellowtail wrapped in avocado, sesame seeds, jalapeño and mint watercress. The Chicken Taco was an attractive presentation of crispy fried chicken atop guacamole drizzled in jalapeño barbecue sauce and topped with sweet toasted parsnips. Presented similarly to a taco, the Grass-Fed Sesame Soy Steak was beautifully presented with chili-ginger-honey sauce atop cabbage and guacamole, garnished with radishes, mint watercress and toasted sesame seeds. The final course was a shared panna cotta made with purple sweet potato, double cream and Madagascar vanilla, garnished with oatmeal crumble, purple sweet potato-crusted meringue, blueberries, raspberries, edible flowers and toasted coconut.
The service at Los Mochis was impeccable, with staff making sure each course was served tapas style. The beautifully presented food at Los Mochis is a treat for the eyes as well as the palate. Each dish is artistically crafted, enhancing the dining experience. The tasting menu was accompanied by a Riesling white wine selected by the sommelier, which was refreshing and sweet, perfectly paired with each course.
For anyone looking to add a rooftop restaurant to their London travel plans, Los Mochis is a must-visit.
