The bill would require the Secretary of the Treasury to enact regulations regarding the acceptance of bitcoin, including specifying when a payment is considered received and requiring the immediate exchange of bitcoin for its dollar equivalent. Additionally, the bill includes provisions regarding the treatment of related exemptions, contracts, fees, and liabilities.
“The Secretary shall develop and implement a methodology that allows any tax imposed on a person under this Act to be paid in Bitcoin,” the bill states. “The Secretary shall prescribe such regulations as the Secretary deems necessary for the acceptance of payments in Bitcoin, including regulations specifying when payments made by such means shall be deemed to have been received and regulations requiring the immediate conversion of any amount of Bitcoin received into its dollar equivalent upon the completion of any transaction.”
