Shopify is building AI into its entire platform. Amazon launches discount marketplace. Amazon The company plans to launch a new section dedicated to low-cost fashion and lifestyle products and allow China-based sellers to ship products directly to U.S. consumers. Amazon’s storefronts will be devoid of brand-name items, many of which will cost less than $20, according to a presentation Amazon gave to some sellers seen by CNBC. Amazon will ship the products directly from China to the U.S., delivering them to shoppers within nine to 11 days.

Unlike Amazon, Walmart, and eBay, Target only allows brands to join by invitation. There are more than 1,200 sellers. Target says it has doubled the number of sellers and products in the past year.
Pear Commerce Raises $10M to Transform Shoppable Media. Pear tradingPear, a retail e-commerce marketing platform for omnichannel brands, has closed a $10 million funding round led by Stage 2 Capital. The funding follows Pear’s recently announced product, Pear Connect, a shoppable ad unit that integrates where-to-buy technology directly into ads. Pear Connect augments existing social and display ad creative by using Pear’s daily inventory scanning technology and ad platform algorithms to serve up the most likely combinations of in-stock products and retailers to be selected.
Data analytics platform Baresquare releases AI manager for e-commerce revenue optimization. Bear SquareBaresquare, an AI-powered analytics platform, has launched an autonomous e-commerce AI agent called Tywin. According to Baresquare, Tywin will monitor marketing campaigns and customer experience errors, create revenue forecasts and goals, perform competitive pricing and inventory analysis, and improve online sales.
