“I’d like some fries on the table, please!”
My group of friends often orders food this way when dining out at a variety of restaurants, including fast food, casual, and fine dining, so we share our meals among ourselves and no one ends up overeating.
Whether you call them “French fries,” “chips,” finger chips, or French fries, these snacks are loved the world over, and this year, National French Fry Day, July 12th, is a day to celebrate their glory. Encouraging your customers to buy in to this marketing initiative can help increase revenue today.
French fries are typically golden brown in texture, ranging from soft to crunchy, and are almost always served with a sprinkling of salt or Parmesan cheese.
French Fries Day
Of course, French Friday was created to celebrate this delicious dish. Whether you eat fries at McDonald’s or order a side dish at your local restaurant or cafe, there’s no denying that adding this potato dish to any meal can take it to the next level. So, it makes sense to have French Friday so you can eat as many French fries as you want, guilt-free.
National French Fry Day used to be celebrated annually on July 13th, but as of 2023, it falls on the second Friday in July.
Also in New Zealand, DoorDash and Maccas are running special anniversary campaigns.
On-demand delivery platform DoorDash has partnered with McDonald’s New Zealand to offer free fries on International Friday, making the occasion even more awesome. Today, July 12, from 11am to 5pm NZT, any McDonald’s order placed through DoorDash will come with a free large serving of fries.
To take advantage of this offer, customers are encouraged to add a large McDonald’s french fries to their cart and use the exclusive code “FRYYAY” at checkout. DoorDash is also supporting the offer by waiving all delivery and service fees. It’s truly a win-win situation for chip lovers across the country.
“At DoorDash, we know how much New Zealanders love Macca’s fries, so we thought there was no better way to celebrate International Friday than by offering free fries to our great customers across the country,” said Bradley Thomas, general manager of DoorDash New Zealand.
Luke Liv, Marketing Director, McDonald’s New Zealand, said: “When we think of International French Fry Day, it’s hard not to think of our iconic fry packs filled with deliciously crispy golden fries. We’re thrilled to partner with DoorDash on this initiative and delight customers across the country with our world-famous Macca’s fries.”
