Shark Awareness Day at Kuramathi Maldives was a huge success, with guests gaining a greater appreciation and understanding of sharks and marine conservation through educational activities and immersive experiences.
The day began with a fascinating marine biology presentation on sharks from 10:00-10:40 AM at the Eco Centre. Participants gained an understanding of the vital role of sharks in the marine ecosystem and highlighted the importance of shark conservation. After the presentation, participants enthusiastically participated in a free shark conservation snorkel session at Kuramathi House Reef, where they had the opportunity to get up close and personal with marine life in their natural habitat.
Meanwhile, at Bagicha Kids Club, children enjoyed a variety of interactive activities throughout the day, starting with creating an ocean shark mural, followed by a shark craft session at 10 a.m. The fun continued in the pool area with fun-filled shark games and activities that taught them about shark behaviour and conservation.
Kuramathi’s commitment to marine conservation was further highlighted with the following events: A Shark Awareness Day event was held in collaboration with Rasdhoo Blue Tide Swimming School On 19th July 2024, children aged between 8 and 13 years enjoyed a presentation on sharks followed by a snorkelling session at Madivaru with Sustainability Manager Tom and Senior Eco Centre Coordinator Aleem.
