The institute aims to increase the quality and impact of Bitcoin research by creating faculty positions for Bitcoin research, encouraging and rewarding excellent academic research on Bitcoin, encouraging young scholars to undertake Bitcoin research projects, offering workshops on related papers and books, connecting researchers interested in Bitcoin, and providing peer-reviewed research for journalists, policymakers, and the general public.
The quality of current academic research on Bitcoin leaves something to be desired, and the Institute aims to address these issues by producing and providing more accurate and rigorous academic research on Bitcoin. We strive to make high-quality, evidence-based research available to all.
The University of Wyoming is strategically positioned to lead this effort due to its interdisciplinary academic collaborations, proximity to renewable energy sources, and supportive legislative and regulatory environment. The institute will also collaborate with various departments across the university, including the Department of Philosophy, Department of Economics, Department of Computing, and the Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation.
