Nexia Maldives has partnered with Summer Island Maldives to celebrate Nexia Week in the Maldives with a one-day sustainability event on 25 January 2024. Nexia Week is a week-long event organised annually by Nexia, a global network of independent accounting and consulting firms.
Established in 2007, Nexia Maldives (formerly FJS – Consulting, Tax, Assurance) is a leading consulting firm in the Maldives providing comprehensive services including socio-economic studies, policy consulting, development planning, management and financial consulting, tax and assurance services.
This year’s Nexia Week focused on the theme of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). The gathering was attended by both local and international delegates. During the event, participants learned about Summer Island Maldives’ sustainability initiatives, which include reef creation efforts at the Blue Lagoon, an impressive coral nursery and the largest 3D printed coral reef certified by the Guinness World Records. Participants also engaged in a coral planting initiative during the event.
Commenting on the event, Hamid Soddiq, Managing Director of Nexia Maldives said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Summer Island Maldives to mark Nexia Week and raise awareness about the significant impacts of climate change on coral reefs. This partnership highlights the fragility of our natural environment and how our livelihoods are directly affected. We hope that by learning about and addressing these challenges together, we will increase our understanding and efforts to protect our rare and valuable ecosystems.”
“We are honoured to partner with Nexia Maldives to host a celebratory event marking Nexia Week and showcasing our sustainability efforts at Summer Island Maldives,” said Mariya Shareef, General Manager, Kaimoo Travels and Hotel Services Ltd.
Located just a 45-minute speedboat ride or a 5-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport, Summer Island Maldives is a charming barefoot beach resort highly acclaimed for its commitment to environmental sustainability. The resort has implemented several initiatives, including phasing out single-use plastics, utilizing renewable energy sources, installing the world’s largest 3D coral reef, and adopting eco-friendly strategies to eliminate mosquitoes.
