Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Co., Ltd. (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) will launch a campaign to promote Maldives as a travel destination through TVer, one of the most well-known television platforms in Japan. The campaign will run until 29 August 2024.
TVer is a Japanese ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) network launched in October 2015 by five commercial broadcasting stations in Tokyo. Connected TV, emerging as the next generation of television technology, is attracting a lot of attention. The campaign showcases the Maldives as the ultimate travel destination with luxury, couples, underwater and family elements as video ads before and during the show.
This year, Visit Maldives has implemented activities targeted at the Japanese market, including an ongoing social media campaign for the Visit Maldives Japan account, a media FAM trip focusing on wellness and luxury, a webinar in collaboration with Malaysia Airlines to explore new routes connecting Japan and the Maldives, and informative webinars on the entire destination organised for agents of the Japan Outbound Tourism Council (JOTC).
The Japanese market ranks 15th with 13,517 arrivals as of May 2024, representing a market share of 1.5%. Visit Maldives is constantly executing several marketing initiatives planned to further promote and elevate the Maldives especially in the Japanese market. Upcoming key activities focused on the Japanese market include joint promotions with top tour operators as well as digital campaigns. In addition, Tourism EXPO Japan 2024, organised by the Japan Tourism Association, Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), is scheduled to kick off this September.
