More than 1.3 million tourists visited the Maldives this year.
According to data from the Tourism Ministry, 1,304,235 tourists had visited the Maldives as of Monday, up from 1.2 million in the same period last year.
China sent the most tourists to the Maldives this year, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom.
India, which has been the largest tourist source market for the past three years, is now the sixth largest tourist source. So far this year, 77,326 tourists from India have visited the Maldives. Last year, 209,198 tourists from India visited the country.
The ministry reported that tourists spend an average of 7.7 days in Sri Lanka. Currently, there are 62,740 beds available for tourists in the country, according to the ministry.
The government aims to attract two million tourists by the end of the year.
