Villa College and the Universal Foundation have teamed up to offer 10 scholarships to students entering the Certificate III program in Culinary Arts starting this September.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed by Villa College Vice Chancellor Dr Ali Najeeb and Universal Foundation Chairman Iyaz Waheed.
Under the terms of the agreement, Universal Foundation will fully support 10 students enrolled in the culinary program. Additionally, the Foundation will work with Villa College to promote and raise awareness of the program.
“We are thrilled to support the first batch of culinary students from Villa College,” said Iyaz Waheed, Chairman of Universal Foundation. “Culinary arts is an area in the Maldives where there is a significant shortage of local talent and we want to contribute to training the culinary professionals of the future.”
Funded primarily by Universal Enterprises and Universal Resorts, the Universal Foundation is active in various human resource development and community care projects in the Maldives. The Foundation partners with both government and non-government organisations to expand opportunities for the people of the Maldives.
Villa College is expected to release further details regarding the scholarship application process and eligibility criteria in the coming days.
