Last night on the beautiful island of Vavu Huraa, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa introduced its star surfers who will be competing for this year’s Surfing Champions Trophy.
Didier Jardin, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, welcomed the assembled dignitaries, family and friends of the competitors, event staff and VIP hotel guests to the beautiful location, just a short walk over the water from Kuda Huraa.
Guests in attendance included representatives of the Maldives Ministry of Tourism, State Minister Abdulla Niyaz, Deputy Minister Yamin Ahmed and Secretary General Aishath Ali, as well as Maldives Surfing Association’s Mohamed Arzan and Maldives Bodyboarding Association’s Hussain Nizam and Hassan Rasheed.
After Didier gave some welcome remarks, he invited TropicSurf’s Ross Phillips onto the stage to introduce the competitors, which included five-time World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Carissa Moore, two-time tournament winner Taj Burrow and number one ranked Maldivian surfer Ahmed “Amadei” Agil. Ross left every audience member smiling with his highly researched and heartfelt words.
Ross then announced the arrival of a beautiful swell that could easily produce the best waves in the event’s history, and anticipation continued to build for the exciting week ahead as guests enjoyed a fantastic banquet and evening of live music.
The Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy will run from August 29th to September 5th.
