More than 172,000 tourists visited the Maldives in August, up 3 percent from 167,500 in July, according to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism.
Statistics released by the ministry on Sunday showed that 172,314 tourists visited the Maldives in the first 30 days of last month, bringing the total for this year to 1.35 million, an 11 percent increase over August last year.

- In August 2022, the number of tourists was 131,863.
The highest number of tourists was on August 14th with 7,032 people. The lowest was on the 29th with 3,715 people. The average was 5,500 people. The average length of stay was 7.7 days.
The top five source markets for August were:
- China: 197,326
- Russia: 146,243
- United Kingdom: 117,080
- Italy: 100,874
- Germany: 95,686
India topped the list at the same time last year, but last month it was in sixth place with about 81,000 tourists.
