Guests at resorts in the Maldives can experience the vibrant cuisine of Southeast Asia this September as Best Buy Maldives (BBM) partners with Vismarck Food Industries to host a series of culinary showcases.
Vismark Corporate Chef Samson Lim will be conducting live cooking demonstrations at select resorts alongside the team from BBM from 8 to 19 September 2024. Designed to inspire creativity in the kitchen, these sessions will see chefs explore new flavours and techniques to create unique and unforgettable dining experiences for guests.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with some of the most talented chefs in the Maldives,” says Chef Samson Lim. “These sessions are more than just cooking – they’re also an opportunity to share techniques, spark inspiration and introduce some of the Southeast Asian staples that will transform our resort’s menus, including dim sum, pau, sambal and laksa paste.”
BBM has been a leading supplier to the Maldivian hospitality industry for over 30 years and is known for bringing premium products and culinary innovation to the region. Singapore-based Vismark Food Industries is a trusted name in the global food market. For over 30 years, Vismark has been exporting high-quality South-East Asian delicacies to many countries around the world, supplying leading hotels, restaurants and the foodservice industry worldwide. Their commitment to excellence and authentic flavours has made them a favourite among culinary professionals looking to take their cooking to the next level.
While resort guests won’t be able to witness the cooking demonstrations in person, they’ll definitely get to taste the results when these fresh, bold flavours are incorporated into the buffet and à la carte menus. The collaboration aims to fuse traditional Southeast Asian elements with global influences to provide guests with an authentic and special experience.
“Our ingredients give chefs the flexibility to explore endless possibilities,” says Steve Tan, Vismark’s director of business development. “Whether they’re creating authentic Southeast Asian cuisine or experimenting with fusion dishes, we’re giving our chefs the tools to create innovative, outstanding meals for their guests.”
Highlighting the importance of this initiative to Maldivian hospitality, AVS Subrahmanyam, COO, BBM, said: “This partnership is about more than showcasing ingredients; it’s about providing our chefs with the knowledge and creative freedom to take their cuisine to a new level. We are proud to support the Maldives’ world-class resorts with the best products and hands-on expertise.”
BBM has continuously driven innovation in the Maldives’ food and beverage industry by carefully selecting high-quality ingredients and fostering partnerships with global brands. This partnership with Vismark demonstrates the company’s commitment to maintaining the Maldives as a premier destination for natural beauty and exceptional dining experiences.
As the Maldives strengthens its position as a global tourism leader, collaborations such as this one will ensure Maldivian cuisine remains compelling, diverse and competitive on the global stage, with BBM and Vismark enabling resort chefs to create exquisite dining experiences that blend Southeast Asian flavours with international appeal.
