This year Maker Fair Rome (October 25-27), Sofia, Bulgaria Vladimir Glukhov is an engineer and designer turned senior software developer with a passion for robotics and DIY projects. With over seven years of experience mastering 3D projection programs, Vladimir has been channeling his creativity into his latest project: an internet-controlled quadruped robot that can be steered with just hand gestures.
Made entirely at home using a 3D printer, the robot is equipped with cutting-edge features such as ultrasonic sensors, gyroscopes and even a robotic arm. Thanks to a custom-built web app, users can control it remotely, providing an innovative addition to the growing trend of gesture-controlled devices.
Vladimir’s journey from engineer to software developer shows that you don’t need a formal knowledge of robotics to bring your technological ideas to life.
His advice to aspiring makers? “Start with what you want your robot to achieve, then think about the mechanics and electronics.” If you’re software-oriented, you can also find pre-made parts for physical construction.
