kelox was founded in 1950 and is Norway’s largest importer of electrical products for land and sea use. We sell motorcycles, ATVs, boats, equipment, and parts. As a B2B wholesaler with over 800,000 SKUs, the company has taken WooCommerce scalability to the next level. Maximela top WooCommerce development agency.
WooCommerce spoke with Maksimer co-founders Anders-Meyer Eldøy, Chief Commercial Officer, and Nils-Fredrik Winther-Kaland, CEO, to learn more about Maksimer and Kellox’s work.
Critical to Kellox’s e-commerce success is Maksimer, a certified web development agency. wu agency partner. Kelox began working with Maximer in 2019 when the company was looking to migrate its e-commerce platform to improve site performance and customer experience.
As a large importer, Kelox serves dealers and other B2C retailers in the marine and automotive industries. That means we have thousands of products for each customer, all tailored based on custom contracts.
Turn challenges into victories
The demands were demanding. Kelox needed the following:
- Very tight integration with enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms.
- Fast page load times.
- Management of over 800,000 SKUs.
- Custom product views for users and user groups.
- Customer logs in using verified credentials.
- B2B self-service wholesale solution.
When Kellox came to Maximer for the project, Maximer recommended WooCommerce for several reasons.
- WooCommerce is Maksimer’s recommended e-commerce platform.
- They already had experience integrating complex ERP systems with WooCommerce and were confident in their ability to do so.
Succeed with Maksimer’s integrated SaaS solution
Maksimer offers a unique and custom SaaS solution integrated with WooCommerce. This was exactly what Kellox needed. This solution allows Kelox to uncover more data for its customers, faster.
Maksimer has created a cash system that allows customers to receive personalized pricing based on their unique contracts and arrangements. Custom logic expands Kellox’s database during customer searches to retrieve the most relevant product data in the shortest amount of time.
With 800,000 SKUs worth of data, this is no small feat. However, the flexibility of WordPress and WooCommerce allowed the team to achieve tight integration at such a large scale.
Kellox needed reliable scalability options for its e-commerce platform. On the backend of Kellox’s WooCommerce store, Maksimer’s scalability work focused on bulk product updates and management.
When Kellox updates products, it makes changes to up to 500,000 products at a time. To make this workload more manageable, Maksimer optimizes Kellox’s plugins and how they fetch data from the database to handle the amount of connectivity required for some of the site’s functionality. There was a need.
One of the key features they use is the WooCommerce lookup table. As an early adopter, Maximer made sure that the Kellox site used these lookup tables as often as possible. These tables are specifically used to optimize extensive catalogs for filtering inventory products.
One of the best features of the Kellox website is that it can be customized to fit each customer’s contract. Maksimer has created several new builds for customer account pages to enable this advanced customization.
Kelox’s business model includes exclusive agreements that allow customers to purchase and resell vehicles and parts. All customers receive custom pricing based on their contractual agreements and all products available within the portal reflect this.
The portal gives customers access to everything they need, including an overview of open and past orders, backordered items, invoices, warranty registration, access to pricing files, a product image bank, and customer service processes. can.
Customers can view older products when they are replaced by newer versions, with the ability to search for older models and receive search results for newer versions. These search chains can hold 5 or more updated products.
Consumers can also use this site to find retailers for the products they need. Kelox partners with brands to host unique branded sections of the Kelox website. Click here for the Honda motorcycle page and Corresponding community hubriders can apply for membership and sign up for tours here.
And finally, Maximer was able to incorporate all of these features into Kellox’s site while maintaining page load times. Less than 2 seconds.
To provide this vast amount of information to Kellox’s customer portal, the Maksimer team worked closely with Kellox during the research phase to understand the landscape of Kellox’s tools and data sources. Using a custom API integration, data flows between Kellox.no and Navision, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software that Kellox relies on.
All information that customers access, including an interactive map that customers can use to find local dealers, comes from Navision. Kellox sells many different types of products, so the map can be filtered by product type. “This makes the solution a little more sophisticated than a standard dealer list,” said Nils Fredrik.
Kellox also shares data with Navision to build new learnings about its customers. These insights help Kellox.no make product recommendations and build upsells by evaluating your previous purchases and knowing which products can be purchased together.
Kellox uses PimCore as its product information management (PIM) system to power product information from Navision. PimCore also stores product classifications, additional images, sliders, and other product details.
“Categories created in PimCore are transferred to WooCommerce via API and corresponding categories are created,” Nils-Fredrik shared. “This is very user-friendly and allows us to quickly place products into the correct category in PimCore. The data is then transferred to Woo.”
Maksimer works with Kellox Chief Financial Officer Nils Hauglad and the IT team to define specifications for each feature and collaborate on test cases. Kellox also has a small team of developers working on exposing an API from Navision so that Maksimer can get the data it needs into WooCommerce. All development done outside of Navision is managed by the Maksimer team.
Leveraging such large amounts of data, Kellox’s lightning-fast page load times are achieved through a custom architectural setup. Maksimer developed a custom caching system for Kellox to optimize data flow for site plugins.
Nils-Fredrik was clear that this was a highly custom solution. We develop (these solutions) to meet the specific needs of our clients. ”
WooCommerce is a great solution for B2B e-commerce, as evidenced by the work of Kellox and Maksimer.
Kellox measures website success not only in the context of e-commerce, but also as an integral part of daily business operations. Internally, the customer portal and ERP integration allow the Kellox team to save significant time managing customer accounts. contracts, warranties, etc.
Customer portals are used for face-to-face transactions. Account managers often travel to customers and can use the portal to enter orders on their behalf. Tight integration ensures that no matter who orders, all customer information is accessible from within the portal.
To conclude our discussion with Maximer, we asked him for advice to share with other WooCommerce businesses looking to grow and expand.
