Announced by DBS Bank India. rajat verma He will assume the role of CEO from March 1, 2025, subject to approval from the Reserve Bank of India.
Mr. Verma is currently Head of Institutional Banking Group (IBG) at DBS India and will succeed Mr. Surojit Chaumet who will retire from his post on February 28, 2025.
Mr. Verma will join DBS’s Group Management Committee in his new role.
Mr. Verma is a banking industry veteran with 27 years of experience and joined DBS in June 2023.
As head of IBG, he drove growth across all customer segments by deepening company relationships, accelerating customer acquisition, and identifying opportunities in new growth areas.
Prior to joining DBS, Verma held leadership roles at HSBC India including Managing Director and Country Head of Commercial Banking.
Surojit Shome, CEO since 2015, has overseen significant milestones including the launch of Digibank in 2016, the acquisition of DBS India in 2019, and the integration of Lakshmi Vilas Bank in 2020.
Under his leadership, DBS India has evolved into a full-service platform across institutional banking, wealth management and retail banking.
The bank currently operates from more than 350 locations in 19 states.
