of National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) Today, the Bakong Tourists app has been officially integrated. visaexpands digital payment options for foreign visitors to Japan.
When the app was first launched The integration, launched in November last year, allowed tourists to link their Visa cards from their home country and pay using KHQR codes at approximately 4.5 million merchants across Cambodia.
The app allows users to transfer funds to their personal Bakong accounts, providing an alternative to cash transactions.
The launch ceremony, led by NBC Governor Dr. Chia Serei, attracted around 300 participants, including representatives from government ministries, international payment companies and private companies.
The cooperation aims to reduce dependence on physical currency and promote the use of Cambodia’s local currency, the Khmer Riel.
It will also support ongoing efforts to improve digital payment infrastructure and streamline transactions for both tourists and businesses.
