Northbrook, III., June 17, 2024 – A new soccer mini-pitch has been created on Detroit’s northeast side, thanks to a partnership between Allstate and the U.S. Men’s National Team 2022 World Cup Captains. Tyler AdamsThe mini-pitch was released on June 15th. Fisher Magnet Upper AcademyA soccer clinic will be held for children ages 7 to 12.
“As a huge supporter of soccer and youth empowerment, providing these mini pitches helps to strengthen the community while creating more opportunities for young people,” Allstate Director of Sports and Sponsorships Dan Keats said.
This collaboration between Allstate, Tyler Adams, grassroots organization Black Star and the U.S. Soccer Foundation is the first of a three-year initiative to donate a soccer mini-pitch each year to an underserved area.
“Soccer has been a driving force in my life and has taught me valuable lessons about teamwork, discipline and resilience,” said Adams, captain of the U.S. Men’s National Team for World Cup 2022. “By providing a space where kids can play and grow, I hope to foster a sense of community and open the doors for the next generation to experience the transformative power of soccer.”
The mini pitch was designed to provide equitable access to soccer for youth on Detroit’s northeast side.
“This represents a commitment to providing young people with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in soccer,” said Patrick Rose, ForSoccer’s Director of Black Star Emerging Operations. “By partnering with Allstate and Tyler Adams, we are taking an important step toward providing a long-term legacy impact and sustainable space to ensure all aspiring athletes, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to develop their skills and passion for the game.”
These hard court surfaces can host organized football or pick-up games, and especially in urban areas where space is limited, mini pitches can help encourage children to be more active and improve safety in the area.
