JOALI BEING has appointed Taylor Jane Shearman as its new executive chef.
Taylor was born and raised in the Snowy Mountains, Australia. Taylor was voted the top VET student in Hospitality across Australia. She completed her Certificate III Commercial Cooking at TAFE Ryde and began her professional journey at the age of 13.
Taylor moved to Sydney to work at Mad Cow, a top rated restaurant in one of the leading restaurant groups, before moving to Turks and Caicos as a sous chef, cooking for international celebrities and top actors. A major milestone for Taylor was working at COMO Hotels & Resorts in the Maldives, where he achieved the position of Executive Chef at the age of 25.
Taylor joined the JOALI family in 2018 and spearheaded the restaurant concept during the pre-opening of JOALI Maldives. As a chef and a woman in the hospitality industry, her inspiration ignited under the leadership of Esin Gulal Arugat, Vice President of Gilok Group, the visionary behind the JOALI brand. Post-pandemic, Taylor led the culinary team at LUX* North Male, which later relocated to Jumeirah Maldives.
Taylor is so fortunate to be back home to her island family at JOALI BEING, where she remains passionate about mentoring future generations of chefs, particularly Maldivians and women.
