MicroBT, a leading innovator in the bitcoin mining industry, unveiled its latest WhatsMiner M6XS+ series at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Featuring air-, water-, and immersion-cooled models, the new series represents a leap forward in renewable mining technology.
MicroBT founder and CEO Dr. Yang Zuoxing highlighted these advancements in his keynote address, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient mining practices. According to Dr. Yang, renewable mining is the future of the industry, and solar mining is poised to come to the forefront. Dr. Yang predicted that by 2026, the cost of electricity for solar mining could fall to around 4 cents per kWh, which he said would remove a major obstacle for the solar mining industry.
MicroBT’s solar mining technology has made great strides, including the successful pilot of a 100 kW project. Dr. Yang announced the upcoming launch of the WhatsMiner solar mining container system and invited industry partners to join in advancing excellence in solar mining.
One of the new features of WhatsMiner hydro-cooled miners is the high outlet water temperature, which can reach up to 80℃ (176℉). This allows for versatile heat utilization, such as agricultural heating, district heating, and power grid balancing. MicroBT’s hydro-cooling technology not only provides a cooling source reduction solution for mining, but also aims to strengthen competitiveness in the renewable mining field.
Dr. Yang also introduced the latest models in the WhatsMiner lineup.
- WhatsMiner M60S+ (Air-cooled): It delivers up to 210 TH/s hashrate and 17 J/T power efficiency.
- WhatsMiner M63S+ (Water-cooled): It has a maximum hashrate of 450 TH/s, power efficiency of 17 J/T, and outlet water temperature of 70℃ (158℉).
- WhatsMiner M64 (water cooled): The maximum hash rate reaches 206 TH/s, power efficiency is 19.9 J/T, and outlet water temperature reaches 80℃ (176℉).
- WhatsMiner M66S+ (immersion cooling): Up to 318 TH/s hashrate, 17 J/T power efficiency.
Dr. Yang subsequently committed to launching additional products and solutions in the spring of 2025.
Following Dr. Yang’s keynote, Wright Wang, Sales & Marketing Director at MicroBT, participated in a panel discussion with Ghazaleh Burman of Riot Platform and Niek Buedeker of Peak Mining (part of Northern Data Group). The panel focused on collaboration from manufacturing to mining, with Wang mentioning that Riot has deployed the world’s largest immersion cooling system and Northern Data is set to deploy a large-scale water cooling system. These operations are primarily powered by WhatsMiner products.
