Kuramathi Maldives has announced the appointment of Bert Goebel as its new General Manager.
With almost 30 years’ experience in the luxury hotel, resort and cruise ship industry, Bert brings a wealth of expertise and a truly international perspective to the team. He began his illustrious career as a chef in 1989 and has held prestigious positions all over the world, serving as Executive Chef at renowned hotels in Europe and Asia before moving to the international cruise industry in 1996, where he served as CEO at five- and six-star properties around the world. His qualifications include an MBA in Hospitality and Tourism and a Masters in Culinary Arts from the renowned Steigenberger Hotel School in Germany.
Bert has extensive experience across multiple countries and continents, notably holding key positions as Vice President of Global Hotel Operations at Scenic Group in Zurich, General Manager at Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean Islands and Director and General Manager at Oceania Cruise Lines in Miami, U.S. This international background, along with his previous experience as Cluster General Manager in the Maldives, gives Bert a deep understanding of the diverse hospitality environment and a unique perspective on global trends.

Outside of work, Bert is an avid traveller and foodie, and enjoys exploring new cultural and culinary experiences. His hobbies include swimming, cycling, scuba diving, running and spending quality time with his family. Bert’s interests are wide-ranging and dynamic, with a strong interest in modern architecture and contemporary design.
