The Maldives Immigration Department has announced that travellers departing from the Maldives will no longer be required to complete the Imga Traveler Declaration from 15 August 2024. The change was implemented based on the directives of the Director General of Immigration.
The measure aims to improve the overall travel experience by reducing procedural requirements for departing passengers. The decision is expected to streamline immigration procedures at airports and make traveller flow more efficient.
The ministry had previously abolished the Imga Traveler Declaration for departing and arriving Maldivians, but tourists were still required to fill in the online form before coming to the Maldives and before leaving the country.
For the hospitality industry, this adjustment of not requiring an Imga Traveler Declaration upon departure from the Maldives will create a smoother experience for international guests departing the Maldives, which is likely to have a positive impact on guest satisfaction and the operational efficiency of resorts and hotels.
Hotels and resorts are encouraged to communicate this change to guests and staff to facilitate a smooth adaptation to the new processes.
