The Ministry of Tourism has added Lambgali Island in Raa Atoll to the list of islands available for lease for resort development.
The ministry said on Wednesday it was inviting proposals to develop Lambgali Island, with the acquisition fee set at US$1.6 million. The island covers an area of 2.66 hectares.
The Ministry of Tourism further confirmed that proposals for the development of two islands and one lagoon on the list for which bidding was opened in May last year have been accepted and lease agreements signed. The leased locations are as follows:
- Lh. Vihavar Finol
- Vaavu Atoll Lagoon
- L. Hanfusi
The Ministry has also opened the following islands and lagoons for tourism development:
- HDh. Vaikaramuraidoo – 15 hectares. $1.9 million
- Sh. Kudalhaimendu – 13.11 hectares, US$ 2 million
- R. dikreddu – 4.83 hectares. $2.6 million
- Dhiffushi Island (including Maidhoo Island) – 15.17 + 20.99 hectares, US$18.6 million
- K. Himya Lagoon – 712 hectares, US$23.5 million
- AA. Alikoira – 1.47 hectares, US$1.3 million
- Galilee Island (including another island in the atoll) – 6.96 + 0.20 hectares, US$2 million
- Rutivira – 8.41 hectares, US$2.4 million
- Kanimeedhoo – 10 hectares, US$2.8 million
- L. Casidou – 3.11 hectares, US$466,500
- L. Bodumnyafushi – 3.14 hectares, US$471,000
- GA. Beilmadoo – 3.08 hectares. US$385,000
- GDh. Kalhehutta – 7.61 hectares. US$ 951,250
- Kaafu Atoll Lagoon – 45 hectares, US$11 million
