For the week ending August 31, seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims were 227,000, down 5,000 from the previous week’s revised figure. The previous week’s revised figure was revised up 1,000 to 232,000 from 231,000. The four-week moving average was 230,000, down 1,750 from the previous week’s revised figure. The previous week’s average was revised up 250 to 231,750 from 231,500.
