Thank you to everyone who has donated so far for your prompt and generous gifts – your generous support makes our work possible.
Our next goal, detailed below, is to continue expanding our daily links. For many of you, links are the start of your day, and for those outside of the continental US time zones, they are an important, and often major, source of new information. So please help us keep this important asset at a high level.
With 421 donations, we’re approaching our fundraising goal of 1,100 donors. We’ve also gained more new donors than in previous years, some of whom have given significantly more than we’ve received in previous years, which is a very encouraging sign for the long-term health of the operation.
To make up for that, our donation totals at this time are a little lower than in years past. We know that many of our loyal readers and supporters have not yet donated. So, if you have some time, please give us a little more. Visit the Tip Jar And help keep this community healthy.
We also welcome messages of support like this one from Cassandra:
I am sending $100 to support your work. I really appreciate it. I wish I had more. It’s so hard to discern reality amidst constantly changing narratives. Your collection of data from different angles is essential to my daily efforts to understand the world. In the midst of constant gaslighting, it’s so comforting to read other people’s voices saying, “Yes, I think so too.”
A huge thank you to you, Lambert and the team.
And from regulars like The Rev Kev:
I just donated to NC via PayPal. With the lights of independent media going out all over the place, it’s hard to imagine what the internet would be like without Naked Capitalism. It would certainly be a lot harder to sift through all the crap sites churning out trash articles, and life is too short to sift through it all, but Naked Capitalism does a great job of putting together a bunch of articles and posts in one place. Thank you.
And Keith H:
This check is for $250.00. Without NakedCapitalism I would definitely be in trouble. Thank you so much for your tireless efforts and the efforts of your amazing NC team.
The main benefit of daily links is that they introduce readers to other sites and opinions. From Debbie G:
A check for $50 is in the mail (hopefully more).
Thank you and your team for all your hard work, I’ve learned so much from you and the other “bloggers” and I’ve met people I would never have “met” otherwise, like Michael Hudson, The Duran Boys, Jeffrey Sachs, John Marsheimer, Aaron Mate/Max Blumenthal, Alastair Crook and many more.
With gratitude.
More importantly, we successfully achieved our first two goals. First, $25,000 to further tech investments in the site. In recent years, external challenges have necessitated significant investments, including moving our main and backup servers outside the United States. Thank you for helping support a mundane, but absolutely essential, budget item: the foundation for all the content we provide. Second, $22,000 to support our comments section. Again, your prompt donations show us how much you value our lively and informative discussions. Likewise, we value your sharp responses to posts (such as alerting us to typos or correcting links).
But these are just our initial goals. If you haven’t had time to donate yet, please consider helping us Tip jar immediatelyHere’s how to donate by check, debit card, credit card, or PayPal.
Our next goal is $27,000 to continue the expanded link section.
Not to promise too much, but I’ll be going to New York at the end of October. If readers can find a venue with a large outdoor space that we can occupy, we may be able to meet up. Even though we try to increase our interactions outdoors as much as possible, I will be wearing a mask almost all the time. I’m concerned about whether venues can ensure they get enough drink orders to be comfortable with us while still minimizing the risk of infection.
Back to the current goal: As of 3 a.m. EDT, $2,115 has already been raised toward that goal.
As I explained in the kickoff post, we have expanded our links section from a maximum of 45 links pre-COVID to now 55-60. While this may not seem like a big deal, it represents additional staffing efforts on a daily basis, including a continued increase in site headcount, which requires a larger budget.
Plus, the content and perspectives (especially those from overseas) are more diverse than they used to be, especially with Lambert and Connor taking an interest in finding non-mainstream media sources, so they’re making more of an effort to give you your morning guide to what’s happening right now.
We’d like to thank everyone who has already donated for their generous support, and we also want to encourage any NC fans who recently found out about this fundraiser to get involved. Help make the site even more successful by donating through our tip jar.
