This year, the number of Chinese tourists visiting the Maldives has exceeded 200,000.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, as of yesterday, 202,613 Chinese tourists had visited the Maldives, accounting for 15 per cent of the total of 1.3 million tourists recorded so far this year.
After China, the major supply markets are:
Russia: 149,920
United Kingdom: 119,189
Italy: 102,000
Germany: 97,804
India: 83,045
Tourism statistics also reveal an increase in visitor numbers over the past three months compared to the same period in the past two years.
The government has set a target of welcoming two million tourists by the end of this year.
