Maybank Singapore Limited has appointed Datuk Yee Yang Chien as its new chairman, effective October 1, 2024.
Datuk Yee has been appointed as a non-independent non-executive director. maybank It will be forwarded to the Maybank Singapore Board of Directors in November 2023 and subsequently in August 2024.
He will succeed Datuk R. Karunakaran, who retired on September 30 after serving as chairman since 2018.
Datuk Yee has extensive experience in the financial sector having worked in both domestic and international organizations.
His career spans auditing, equity research, and investment banking.
Datuk Yee also spent nearly 20 years at global shipping company MISC Berhad, where he held various leadership roles including President and Group CEO.
During his tenure at MISC, Datuk Yee led major corporate initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, investments, and the development of new digital ventures.
Datuk Yee’s expertise is expected to support Maybank Singapore’s growth with a focus on sustainable development and innovation.
