I reviewed it R9 desk lamp in red glassesI was skeptical at first as to whether a high-end lamp would be necessary or even useful for the kind of activities I engage in. But from the moment I first turned it on, I saw the light and it replaced a lot of OttLite and other work. I use the lamp around my office and workshop and it has become practically an essential tool for both work and personal projects. The only thing I don’t like about this amazing light source is that I only have one. So you need to decide if you want to keep it attached to your desk, workbench, makerspace, coworking space, or either. There are countless other places to soak up all its splendor. That’s why I was overjoyed when the Redgrass team gave me a sneak peek at their latest product, the compact and portable R9 Solo desk lamp.
R9 Solo features a lightweight, collapsible LED light bar and pivoting arm that puts the perfect lumens of 1800 colors where you need them. The included clamp mounts securely to a desk or other surface, and the optional base eliminates the need for constant re-clamping and is heavy enough to easily move from one surface to another. It can be moved and prevented from falling. A rotating bar and precision optical lens allow you to perfectly aim the 48 dimmable pure white 5000K LEDs for any task, whether it’s soldering, creating art, or taking photos for product or social media posts. (at least that’s what I think). I’ve been using it for! ). It’s extremely portable, so when you’re ready to move on, simply fold it up and toss it in the included carrying bag.
of Red Glass R9 Solo Desk Lamp is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter for a discounted price of 209 Swiss Francs (approximately $230) + shipping. Normally we’re hesitant to drive customers to crowdfunding campaigns because of the risks involved, but this is Redgrass’ seventh campaign, and I’ve spent several weeks using the new R9 Solo prototype. Given that the desk version will be around for several years, it is highly unlikely that it will go out of service.
