Thousands of American Manufacturing Alliance supporters sent a letter to lawmakers urging them to support legislation that would close a loophole that allowed Chinese companies to use federal tax dollars to build airport transportation.
AAM President Scott Paul sent the following email to supporters Thursday morning:
On Wednesday, the U.S. factory workers and manufacturers won a major victory.
Thousands of supporters of the American Manufacturing Alliance like you sent a letter to members of Congress urging them to support the bill, which was included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill passed by Congress on Wednesday.
I can’t thank you enough. Thanks to people like you, taxpayer money will no longer be used to purchase transportation for American airports built by Chinese companies that pose a risk to our national and economic security. .
Closing this loophole would also create a more level playing field for American workers and manufacturers. American workers and manufacturers have had to compete unfairly for taxpayer-funded contracts with companies that profit from the predatory practices of the Chinese government.
There is still much work to do to strengthen American manufacturing and ensure that American workers have fair rights. But thanks to people like you, we were able to take a step forward this week.
With gratitude,
scott paul
