Corteva Agriscience has expanded its cereal herbicide portfolio in Canada with the launch of Extinguish XL herbicide, a broadleaf herbicide for wheat and barley farmers in the black and grey soil regions of Western Canada.
With multiple modes of action, Extinguish XL herbicide is a pre-formulated, all-in-one application that can control stubborn weeds such as plantain grass, dandelion, roundleaf mallow, stork grass and narrowleaf weed under a range of climatic conditions, according to the company.
Extinguish XL herbicide can be used from the two-leaf stage through just before flag leaf emergence, and according to the company, this wide application period, combined with its effectiveness in a range of temperature and moisture conditions, makes Extinguish XL herbicide a flexible solution for controlling broadleaf weeds.
The herbicide combines Group 4 and Group 2 active substances to help farmers struggling with problem weeds such as Group 2-resistant chickweed, chickweed and volunteer canola.
The new herbicide will be available at select retailers ahead of the 2024 growing season.
