Advance statistics for the week ending May 18th: Seasonally adjusted initial claims were 215,000.The number of cases in the last week was 219,750, down 8,000 from the previous week’s revised figure. The previous week’s level was revised upward by 1,000 to 223,000 from 222,000. The four-week moving average was 219,750, up 1,750 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised upward by 250 to 218,000 from 217,750.
