AZAD Engineering, a leader in precision engineering and manufacturing, has been awarded a prestigious contract to act as production agent by DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) and GTRE (Gas Turbine Research Establishment), a prominent research and development organisation under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The long-term contract involves complete manufacturing and assembly of advanced gas turbine engines critical for defence applications. AZAD will commence delivery of the first batch of fully integrated engines by early 2026.
The advanced gas turbine engine is designed with a single spool turbojet setup incorporating components such as a four-stage axial compressor, annular combustor, single-stage axial uncooled turbine and fixed exit area nozzle. This advanced propulsion system is suitable for a variety of defense applications.
AZAD was selected as GTRE’s sole industry partner (IP) to bring this advanced design to reality, demonstrating the confidence in AZAD’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities. India has consistently demonstrated its ability to create top-class engine designs with cutting-edge indigenous technology, but translating these superior designs into engines that deliver the desired power output or meet mission-critical objectives remains a challenge.
