Tihei Mauri Ora! Enter to vote for the once in a lifetime experience, Hākari Fusion, on Saturday 10th August.
The event will be hosted by New Zealand’s Governor-General, Dame Cindy Kilo, GNZM, QSO, and will feature a feast combining traditional and contemporary Māori cuisine in the grounds of Wellington House.
Guests watch the hangi being raised while enjoying drinks and canapés, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by the Hangi Master. Lewi Spraggon Government House chefs, Simon Peacock.
Rewi has long been on a mission to bring traditional Māori food back into the mainstream in Aotearoa and built a hangi pit for the event which will become a permanent fixture at Government House. Rewi says it will be a great experience for attendees to understand the cooking process and enjoy foods they may not previously associate with hangi.
Tickets for this historic event are free but subject to limited availability and are allocated by lottery. A maximum of two tickets may be applied for and only one admission per person is permitted.
The drawing will run until 11:59pm on June 12th, and winning ticket holders will be notified on June 13th.
