Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) announced the inauguration of its first 180kW DC public electric vehicle (EV) fast charging station with 150kW and 30kW connectors in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. As part of HMIL’s commitment to the state of Tamil Nadu, this is the only public EV fast charging station currently installed in Chennai and marks the first of HMIL’s target of setting up a total of 100 public EV fast charging stations on major highways and cities across Tamil Nadu.

In line with Hyundai’s vision of ‘Progressing Humanity’, we aim to enhance convenience for all EV users and our charging stations will be accessible to all four-wheeler EV users. HMIL plans to set up 100 charging stations across Tamil Nadu to strengthen the EV ecosystem and encourage more customers to adopt EVs across the state.”
All EV customers can benefit from fast charging experience with HMIL’s public 180kW DC fast charging stations. EV owners can access the charging facilities with HMIL’s proprietary charger management system on the myHyundai app for easy location search, navigation, pre-booking, digital payments and remote charging status monitoring of charging slots. In addition to fast public charging stations, for customer convenience, 170+ charging points currently available in Tamil Nadu have been mapped under the ‘EV Charging’ section on the myHyundai app. The app can be accessed free of cost for all Hyundai EV users and non-Hyundai EV users.
The charging stations have been strategically located in central Chennai and are located at Spencer Plaza Mall, Anna Salai, Thousand Lights, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The charging stations have been installed close to customer amenities such as coffee shops, restaurants and shopping destinations, further enhancing customer satisfaction when charging their electric vehicles.
