This graph shows the number of reported deaths by week (vertical bars).
Weekly deaths have fallen sharply from a recent peak of 2,561 and are now below the previous pandemic low of 491 in July last year.

This appears to be a leading indicator of hospitalization and death from the coronavirus.
Nationally, COVID-19 infections in wastewater are now down more than 90% from their holiday season peak in late December, and are also approaching last year’s lows, which is the lowest number of deaths per week. This suggests that it will continue to decline. However, there was a slight increase compared to last week.
