Southeast Asia’s Super App grab and Open AI Announced a strategic collaboration to develop and implement advanced AI solutions to improve experiences for users, partners and employees.
The initial collaboration will cover three main areas: accessibility, customer support and mapping.
Leveraging cutting-edge text and voice capabilities, Grab aims to make its services more accessible, especially for visually impaired and elderly users who may struggle to navigate the app.
The collaboration will also explore AI technologies to develop chatbots that can understand and solve users’ problems more efficiently.
Additionally, OpenAI’s vision capabilities will be leveraged to enhance Grab’s mapping efforts, automating data extraction from visual imagery and updating GrabMaps faster for a better experience for consumers and driver-partners.
Grab will also pilot ChatGPT Enterprise among selected employees to improve productivity and support wider use of AI tools across its workforce.
Philip Cundall, Grab’s chief product officer, said:
“We are pioneers in the adoption of AI in the region and see great potential in generative AI to further transform the way our partners and users solve problems. We are pleased to partner with OpenAI to accelerate the exploration and use of this technology within Grab.”
Our goal with any new technology is always to use it to solve real problems at scale. We want to equip ourselves with the latest tools and improve the way every Grabber works, while providing our customers with a fresh and enjoyable experience.”
Brad Lightcap, Chief Operating Officer at OpenAI, added:
“We are excited to work with Grab to explore how advanced AI can benefit Grab’s users, partners and employees across Southeast Asia.”
