With the growing popularity of Asian cuisine amongst those with a penchant for fresh seafood from the Indian Ocean, Atmosphere Koa is pleased to announce a truly unique collaboration with internationally renowned Japanese chef Satoshi Tsuru. His first visit to the archipelago and first in the Maldives will see him offer an educational journey where guests will be able to experience his incredible knife skills and culinary talents, helping to upskill the hotelier’s chefs.
Known for his attention to detail, Chef Tsuru will join Atmosphere Core’s corporate team to deliver a highly intensive series of masterclasses at both the soon-to-open five-star hotel, RAAYA by Atmosphere, and the group’s premium flagship private island, OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI.
Anupam Bannerjee, Vice President, Food & Beverage, the man behind this special collaboration, said, “In preparation for the launch of ‘RAAYA by Atmosphere’ on July 4th, over the past month, our top international head chefs have been participating in ‘Knowledge Sharing’ classes and conducting training courses on new and innovative culinary techniques with the growing RAAYA team.
“To take this cross-training approach to the highest level, we have invited Chef Satoshi Tsuru to exclusively present his signature approach to ‘Sushi Happiness’ at RAAYA. His mission is to teach a select group of expert island chefs the age-old traditions of Japanese culinary craftsmanship using local seafood, vegetables and plants from the Maldives and our islands. Chef Tsuru will share his decades of kitchen experience deeply rooted in Japan’s historic sushi restaurants, particularly the world-famous ‘Ginza’ in Tokyo, established in 1935,” added Anupam.
This innovative collaboration with one of the biggest names in Japanese cuisine was no surprise when Atmosphere Core invited them to celebrate the recent opening of Soi, an Asian concept restaurant on their flagship private island, Ozen Reserve Bolifushi.
Anupam added, “At OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI, Chef Tsuru will once again host inspiring masterclasses with some of the island’s already acclaimed chefs. These courses will not only develop our in-house talent but also recognise the skills our F&B team already possesses. These classes will be as fun and challenging as they are educational and I am sure all attendees will appreciate the talent Chef Tsuru has displayed throughout his illustrious career in the years to come.”
Responding to Banji’s comments, Chef Tsuru Satoshi concluded, “I am honored to be invited by Atmosphere Core and Anupam to share the lessons I have learnt in my life as a chef. Japanese cuisine is like an art, and the best outcome requires finding the perfect balance between ingredients and craftsmanship. As much as I teach about flavours, ingredients and knife skills, I aim to complement that with the final presentation of a culinary masterpiece.”
As an added experience, guests who book at RAAYA by Atmosphere can enjoy chef Tsuru Satoshi’s cuisine during their stay from July 4 to 6, while at OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI, they can watch and taste the chef’s craftsmanship from July 10 to 12.
